Bhandardara is a beautiful spot for a day long or a night out. It’s accessible from Mumbai & Pune. If you are visiting with family you might want to stay in MTDC Bhandardara. With friends, you can opt for a camping option. I went once during monsoon and once during winter. Both times offered me different yet enjoyable experiences.

From Mumbai, you can catch any train that goes towards Nashik. Get down at Igatpuri and catch a private car to Bhandardara. They charged us to Rs. 900.

Another alternative is to catch a train to Khopoli and then get a cab from there. It costs around Rs.1300 for the cab this way.

MTDC Bhandardara, which is a government of Maharashtra undertaking offers some excellent rooms with lake view. There is a village just near MTDC resort, which has a beautiful market on Friday, wherein you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables. Other than that, you will find lots of restaurants and other amenities here. Reservations for the resort can be done here.

Camping is another option. For around 1800 per person, you get lunch, dinner, breakfast, etc. Food is quite tasty. There are common washrooms you can use. Tents are provided. Campfire and Barbeque are included in the price. They will also provide chairs, tables, and electricity. It’s an awesome setup to just chill out with your friends.

There are other activities you can opt for. You can go for speed boating in Wilson dam. There are lots of peaks like Kalsubai & Ratangad nearby where you can trek.

Bhandardara is a beautiful place to visit. If you need help planning a trip, don’t hesitate to ping.
