Samosa Channa Chaat

How to make Samosa Channa Chaat at home easily

Ingredients – Samosa Channa Chaat

Channa – 1 Cup
Onion – 1 Large Chopped
Potatoes – 2 medium boiled
Tomatoes Large- 2 Chopped
Ginger Garlic Paste – 2 tsp
Red Chilly Powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Garam Masala powder – 1.5 tsp
Cumin Powder – 2 tsp
Channa masala powder – 3 tsp
Cardamom – 3 pods
Cloves – 3 pods
Cinnamon Sticks – 1 medium stick
Salt – To taste
Oil – 1 tbsp
Butter- 2 tbsp
Fresh Coriander – 1/2 cup

Ingredients – Samosa Channa Chaat

Deep Fried Punjabi Samosa – 2 nos
Dates Tamarind Chutney – 1 tablespoon
Green Chutney – 1 tablespoon
Black Salt – 1/4 tsp
Chaat Masala – 1/4 tsp
Red Chilly Powder – 1/4 tsp (Adjust to spice level)
Chopped Onion – 1 tablespoon
Chopped Raw Mango – 1 tablespoon
Bhujiia Sev – 1/3 cup
Fresh coriader – few

Method For Channa Masala:

  • Soak channa overnight/8 hours and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles on a medium flame
  • In a kadai add oil and butter and once hot add in cardamom,cinnamon and cloves and saute for a minute
  • Add in finely chopped onions and saute until golden brown.
  • Now add the ginger garlic paste and saute for 2 minutes for the raw smell to go
  • Add red chilly powder,cumin podwer,garam masala powder,channa masala powder and turmeric powder and saute for 2 minutes but make sure the masala does not stick to pan and get burnt.Add very little water if needed.
  • Now add tomatoes and saute until they are soft and add the boild channa and potato with required salt for this dish.Add 2 cups of water and mash the gravy with a potato masher to break down channa and potato into smaller chunks and simmer gravy for 7-10 minutes.
  • Top with fresh coriander leaves and remove from stove.

To make samosa channa chat:

  • Cut deep fried samosa into bite sized pieces and place it on a bowl/plate
  • Pour 2 cups of channa masala on top of the samosa and top it with dates/tamarind chutney and green chutney
  • Then sprinke some raw mango piece and add the bujjiya sev
  • Then sprinkle some red chilly powder,chaat masala powder,black saltand top the dish with chopped onions and some coriander leaves

Tip:
You can add boiled potatoes,chopped tomatoes to the dish
The dish tastes best when served hot
