Have only a weekend in Chicago? Here’s how I covered the important landmarks in the city!

Chicago, being a densely populated city has some serious parking issues. So, we parked our car at our hotel, and reached subway by Uber.

We brought a CityPass for $106 per pass which gave us access to 5 of Chicago’s famous spots.

Day 1:

Stop 1: Millennium Park

Entry: Free

Recommended Visit Rating: 5/5

Get down at the ‘Washington’ subway station on the ‘Blue’ line and go walking to Millenium park. This park houses the famous ‘Cloud Gate‘. It is totally crowded, but you can manage to get some good pictures.

A few minutes walk from Milennium Park will bring you to the Grant park which houses the Buckingham fountain. Walk across the road and you can see the beautiful Lake Michigan.

Stop 3: Skydeck

Entry: Included in the CityPass

Recommended Visit Rating: 4/5

We got the biggest advantage of having a CityPass – we got a fast pass to the Skydeck. There is a huge line for visiting Chicago’s tallest building, the Sears tower also known as the ‘Willis Tower’ which has 110 floors. We captured this video while going up to Sky Deck. It shows the current height and their equivalent monument from the world. You watch it

With fast pass, we saved a lot of time. After reaching the top, you can click pictures from the ledge and of course have a look at the beautiful city.

Stop 4: Giordano’s Pizza

Recommended Visit Rating: 5/5

Giordano’s offers you a taste of Chicago’s famous deep dish pizza. As the name suggests, these are deep pizzas with lots of yummy toppings and cheese. There is usually a waiting here, and the pizza takes about 50 minutes to prepare. Better to order while you wait rather than wait to be seated. Trust me it’s totally worth the wait and no trip to Chicago is complete without having a slice of the deep dish pizza.

Day 2

Stop 1: Adler’s Planetarium

Entry: Included in City Pass

Recommended Visit Rating : 5/5

Adler’s is a huge planetarium with lots to visit and explore. Half a day is certainly not enough. Entry for few shows is included in the ticket. If you are not pressed for time and you have interest in astronomy, better to allocate the whole day for it.

Stop 2: Shedds’s Aquarium

Entry: Included in City Pass

Recommended Visit Rating : 5/5

Shedd’s Aquarium is located near to Adler’s. It’s a massive aquarium which includes a dolphin show amongst many other interesting shows. It has a huge and impressive collection of aquatic animals. Again there’s so much to see here, one should spend a whole day here.

Stop 3: Chicago Architecture River Cruise

Ticket : $40

Recommended Visit Rating : 5/5

Ferries ply from Shedd’s aquarium to Navy Tier for $10 per person. The river tours start from Navy Pier.

Chicago has an amazing architecture and the river tour is an amazing one. I didn’t have any idea that Chicago had such a rich history.

Stop 4 : Navy Pier

Entry: Free

Recommended Visit Rating: 5/5

The Navy Pier has a mall, and a Pier wheel amongst many other things. This is Chicago’s number one tourist destination. It’s just calming to be here.

    1. Thanks Abhijit! I was there only for a weekend in October, when winters were about to start.
